SURVEY REP FAQ

Questions before you apply?

What does a Survey Representative do?

Survey Reps visit assigned residential or commercial properties and collect the photographs, observations and other information required by the specific survey. Some assignments are brief exterior surveys; others require additional documentation or authorized interior access.

Do I need previous survey experience?

Not necessarily. Reliability, attention to detail, the ability to follow instructions, clear photography and comfort using mobile technology are extremely important. Requirements may vary by survey type and client.

Is this a 1099 independent contractor opportunity?

Yes. Survey Representatives operate as independent contractors under the applicable contractor agreement and are generally responsible for their own taxes, transportation, equipment and ordinary business expenses.

How much work will I receive?

Survey volume varies significantly by market, client demand and geographic coverage. Timely Services does not guarantee a specific number of assignments. Some markets may offer consistent routing opportunities while others may have occasional survey needs.

How much do surveys pay?

Compensation varies by market and survey type. Applicable rates are communicated before activation or assignment so Survey Reps understand the compensation associated with the work.

How long does a survey take?

It depends on the survey. A brief exterior property or occupancy survey may take only a few minutes onsite, while detailed insurance, interior or specialty surveys can take considerably longer.

How far will I have to travel?

You tell us the areas, ZIP Codes and general travel radius you’re willing to cover. Available assignments depend upon client demand within those markets.

What equipment do I need?

Most Survey Reps need a reliable vehicle, smartphone with clear photography, mobile data, an approximately 10-foot survey pole, Bluetooth shutter, flashlight, tape measure, voltage meter and basic field supplies. Some assignments have additional requirements.

Do I have to complete a background check?

Certain clients and survey programs require credentialing and background screening. Applicable requirements are communicated during onboarding and handled in accordance with applicable law.

When do I get paid?

There may be an initial processing period of approximately two weeks when beginning assignments. After that initial period, approved completed surveys are generally processed for payment weekly.

Will I be reimbursed for gas or mileage?

Unless specifically stated for an assignment, independent Survey Representatives are responsible for their own transportation, fuel and ordinary operating expenses.

Can I do this around another job?

Potentially, yes. Availability requirements depend on the market, survey type and client deadlines. Tell us the days and hours you are generally available so we can evaluate the fit.

What happens after I apply?

We review your location, coverage area, availability and qualifications against current and anticipated client needs. If your market is a potential fit, we’ll contact you regarding rates, credentialing requirements and next steps.
